    41.Diet And Cooking Classes (Outreach)

It’s undeniable that a well-balanced diet goes hand in hand with a healthy lifestyle. What one chooses to eat, and what one chooses not to eat, are factors in warding off many leading chronic illnesses and diseases. Food choices make a huge impact on people’s health and issues that could be given as prayer items can be simply avoided by a healthy food regime and good cooking. Today people are becoming more and more busy and resort to eating fast foods which tend to be mostly unhealthy.

Your church can introduce a diet and cooking class which will be open to the community. You can source facilitators from your congregants who can facilitate these classes.  The word can be shared during this program also making reference to Daniel 1:6-20. The invitation should also be extended to the community for future partnerships that might happen and also for building a close relationship with your community.

    Execution List

    1. Book an appropriate venue to host cooking classes
    2. Financial budget
    3. Prepare campaign material, posters, fliers
    4. Duration of the cooking classes
    5. Date and time they will be taking place
    6. Availability of evangelism literature and information collection cards.

    42.Children’s day (Outreach)

    Description

The Old Testament is full of passages about the importance of raising children to love and worship God (Deuteronomy 6:7, Proverbs 22:6). Parents are reminded that children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalms 127:3–5). And children are instructed to obey the instruction of their parents (Exodus 20:12).

It’s in the Gospels that we really discover God’s soft spot for children. He’s gentle and kind with them, and passionate about protecting them from harm. When you win children today you have a generation to carry the church button forward into the future. Children’s day should therefore be a very important date on the church’s calendar. On this special day, you could focus on music and events around children. Have children assist adult ushers and lead in prayer. Invite parents so they can be ministered to as they see how much your church values their children.

    Execution List

    1. Make an announcement in church so that people prepare for the program
    2. Children in church should invite their friends who do not attend church
    3. Provision of snacks for children after church
    4. Financial budget for the program
    5. Availability of evangelism literature and information collection cards

    43.Outing For Kids (Outreach)

Church trips are fun and very exciting for kids and creates strong memories which they will associate with your church. These trips can be free or a nominal fee could be charged. Encourage kids to invite friends. On the day they can do the following:

    • Go to an amusement park
    • Have a cookout day where kids can prepare and cook their own lunch
    • Hold a day camp

    Execution List

    1. Seek permission from parents or guardians.
    2. Financial budget
    3. Availability of evangelism material for kids
    4. Inform church members about this program
    5. Venue
    6. Transport for children
    7. Select a supervising committee
    8. Security

    44.Art Day (Outreach)

    Description

Have you ever wondered why art and crafts are so important for child development? And for children age 3 – 8 experts say it is the most important way to help them grow and develop. That’s why they do so much of it at kindergarten and primary school. A church can also be a good place to engage your children and teenagers through art. Your church can employ art as an outreach program to engage children within your church and community. All you need to do is identify the art programs that suits your crowd and look for mentors who will help the children through this journey. This can be a very engaging self-discovery journey that will help the kids to enjoy church and fellowship.

    Execution Checklist

    1. Identify art programs to be done
    2. Work on a budget
    3. Identify facilitators
    4. Identify and approach sponsors
    5. Invite the community through poster, flyers and word of mouth
    6. Choose a date and venue

    45.Game Day (Outreach)

    Description

Due to the vast reach, unparalleled popularity and foundation of positive values, games are definitely one of the greatest things man has ever created. Bringing together and bonding your church youth group is an important part of helping teens get to know each other and games are just the right platform to achieve this objective. Plan a game night or integrate these activities into your weekly meetings to encourage members to open up — and have lots of fun. You can put this plan into action by looking for games that befits your crowd and fit into available time frames.

    Execution Checklist

    1. Identify possible games
    2. Work on budgets if relevant
    3. Book for facilities
    4. Plan a calendar for such activities so that they are well planned and communicated
    5. Inform the youth and encourage them to invite friends and parents to the games
    6. Ensure you have a first aid kit on the scene with trained individuals

    46.Gym Day (Outreach)

    Description

In any discussion about Christians and physical fitness, we should begin with Paul’s comparison in 1 Timothy 4:7-8—“On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” Elsewhere Paul similarly indicates that whereas athletes in physical training exercise self-control for the purpose of winning a perishable prize, Christians discipline themselves spiritually for an imperishable prize (1 Cor. 9:25). God has given you a body to use and enjoy during your time in this life. It will not last forever, but as with anything else God entrusts to us as stewards (for example: money, possessions, time), you should take good care of your body. There is no better time to cultivate this culture than when one is still young. You can organize gym days for all the youths in your community. This will create a hive of activity and better interactions with the youth in the community. The gym can be a very simple yoga class or stretching exercises or a simple road run. This will create a life log culture of exercise and discipline.

    Execution Checklist

    1. Secure premises
    2. Establish budget
    3. Print t-shirts and other paraphernalia with church logos
    4. Get voluntary trainers preferably from the church
    5. Invite teenager in church and community
    6. Invite parents to join their children
    7. Plan a reliable year calendar and times for the gym

    47.Sidewalk Circus ( Evangelism)

    Description

In this world where technology dominates not only us but even our toddlers who are growing up to become digitally smart, many of us think circus as an irrelevant form of entertainment for our little ones. Sometimes it is good to distract our children from the world of technology and show them some entertainment from the past times. Sidewalk circus is a lot of fun but also needs careful planning and good preparation. Have children make puppets and create a puppet show. Take your puppet team to the local park and hold a sidewalk circus. You can also have circus-type acts, clowns, and balloons. Invite visiting children to come to your church on Sunday.

    Execution Checklist

    1. Identify the convenient date
    2. Decide the themes and help the participating kids start of early
    3. Ensure they have all the required material
    4. Identify the showcasing place
    5. Kids will invite friends
    6. Invite the community
    7. Have information collection material
    8. Have church marketing material on the day e.g. flyers, banners

    48.Kite Day (Evangelism)

    Description

What a spectacular way of evangelising! You can work with your teenagers in designing kites which they can compete with. Kites fly high in the spring. After morning worship, supply kite-making materials. Serve families pizza or hot dogs for lunch. After everyone has eaten and made a kite, enjoy flying the kites. You can give prices to the best kites and the one flying highest. These kites can carry different evangelism messages and themes

    Execution Checklist

    1. Choose the most suitable day
    2. Ensure material for kite making is available

    49.Make-a-Movie Extravaganza (Outreach)

    Description

Making a film requires the talents and abilities of team members. This exercise naturally will help participants to be more organized enough to know what you needs be done, materials required and how it will be used. Creativity and fun is what makes the children remain engaged. Projects like making a movie is challenging but a lot more fun and very educational. Your church can use Biblical themes and re-enact biblical stories, or create your own theme in creating these movies. To make it more fun at the end you can give plastic “Oscar” awards after the screening to celebrate the winners

    Execution Checklist

    1. Select dates and give kids enough time to prepare
    2. Select teams and supervise work
    3. Choose appropriate venue
    4. Advertise the event through flyers, posters and banners
    5. Prepare the awards

    50.Create a Story-telling Culture (Outreach)

    Description

Stories are fodder for revival. Every great spiritual awakening has been accompanied by great stories. And great stories breed even more stories. When teenagers are sharing their faith, they also want to share their stories. When teenagers are growing deeper in Christ, they want to let others know. Your church can program storytelling time into your youth groups and small groups. Encourage teenagers to go do something that is story-worthy. Once this catch holds, it will create an unstoppable spiritual momentum in your youth group that will turn your ministry from theoretical to practical in an emotionally engaging way. During this weekly storytelling time, many powerful stories can be shared, tears will be shed and prayer requests will go out. The momentum in the youth ministry has been palpable over the years as a result.

    Execution Checklist

    1. Decide on the dates
    2. Create a budget for refreshments
    3. Identify facilitators
    4. Invite the community through flyers, word of mouth and posters
    5. Invite special guests
    6. Organise a venue
